Florida Lobster.......

Every July the coastal areas of Florida are flooded with lobster hunters trying to get their share of this year's bounty. There are two Florida Lobster Seasons, the 2 Day Mini Season and the 8 month regular lobster season. The mini lobster season is always the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July. Make sure to always verify dates and regulations with Florida Fish and Wildlife. It begins at 12:01 am on Wednesday and ends at 12:00 midnight on Thursday.

What does Thomas Edison, mid-February and a 2 week party all have in common? The Edison Festival of Light, of course. Each February the City of Ft Myers recognizes its most famous winter resident, Thomas Alva Edison. He built a sprawling home and laboratory along McGregor Boulevard in 1885. Over the years he also encouraged a number of his friends to make the move south. Henry Ford was his most famous friend who shared the property on McGregor Boulevard known as the Edison Ford Estate.

The party atmosphere is always present in Key West, the ultimate place to ring in the new year.  Key West is one of the few cities that is ALWAYS featured on the live national news feeds. There are certainly many reasons for its allure and popularity.  First off it’s WARM!!! Imagine welcoming in the new year wearing shorts and flip-flops….  You can’t get any better than that!
